Howard Davis is the creator of the Phone Car a modified a 1975 Volkswagen Beetle. Originally, the car was built to promote his telephone business called Datel Communications. He was featured in Harrod Blank's book Art Cars and recently decided to take time off his job to take phone car on tour to different cities to “put a smile on people’s faces”. Davis car was also recently featured on CBS news, great job and see you at Art Car fest this year.

Dalton Stevens also known as The Button King, got his start as a result of suffering from insomnia. It got really bad in 1983 and he stayed up all night sewing buttons to his denim suit. He finished nearly three years later with 16,333 buttons that weighted 16 pounds. He then went on to glue 3,005 buttons to his guitar, 517 buttons to his shoes. He also covered a Hearse, a Chevrolet Chevette, a casket and a toilet as seen in the picture. He also wrote Insomniac Shuffle and Poppin' Buttons and recently opened The Button King museum for anyone interested in seeing his complete button covered works.

This 1995 Subaru called "ChewBaru" is covered in approximately 70 pounds of dentures, 60 pounds of dental impressions, photos and illustrations from old dental school books, empty toothpaste tubes, and other items related to dentistry. It was created by artist and motorcycle rider Rex Rosenberg from Kansas. This car reminded me when my grandfather would pop his dentures in and out of his mouth during dinner just to gross mom out. That and all the other cool things he showed me, is what made him my favorite grandfathers. Thanks Rex for bringing back all those good times to mind:)

2008 Acura TL

Introduction

Once regarded as just a more luxurious version of the Honda Accord, the TL has evolved into a refined sports sedan with wedgy good looks and ample thrust from a 258-hp, 3.2-liter V-6 that is typically Honda smooth and happiest operating at the upper end of its rpm range. There’s also a 286-horse, 3.5-liter upgrade V-6, which hauls the sportier Type-S model. Both engines qualify as ultra-low-emissions (ULEV) powerplants, although both require premium unleaded fuel. Surprisingly, federal fuel-economy projections for the two engines are almost identical: 18 mpg city/26 mpg highway for the TL, 17/26 or 18/27 for the Type-S, depending on transmission. Aside from the obvious difference—power—a major distinction between the TL (standard) and the optional TL Type-S is transmission choice. Both models offer a five-speed automatic, but the Type-S also provides the choice of a close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox allied with a limited-slip differential, and its automatic is equipped with fingertip paddle shifters.

Verdict

Ample power is always welcome, but it’s also the TL’s Achilles' heel. The TL is a front-drive sports sedan in a segment dominated by rear-drive competitors, and its steering wheel jerks to the side under hard acceleration—a phenomenon called torque steer—particularly in the Type-S. All TLs show some reluctance in hard cornering. On the other hand, they handle quick course changes with the best, braking performance is good, ride quality is firmly compliant, and interior space stacks up very well versus competing cars.


What’s New for 2008

Now in its fifth model year, the TL is due for a major makeover in 2009, so updates for 2008 are minimal. Acura has expanded the real-time capabilities of its AcuraLink satellite navigation traffic-reporting system, adding 32 metropolitan markets to its coverage, bringing the total to 76. Beyond that, a tire-pressure monitoring-system warning light and two new exterior colors are the only changes.

Sudah banyak yang tahu Voll Yohanis Bosco meriset Suzuki Smash berbahan bakar gabungan air dan bensin. Temuan pria asal Palu, Sulawesi Tengah ini fantastis dan mengundang banyak pertanyaan. Bagaimana bisa air disulut api busi dan menghasilkan ledakan yang ditransfer jadi energi gerak?

STEP1 OPLOS BENSIN DAN AIR

Langkah pertama ini memang bikin kaget. Bensin kok dicampur air. Gimana bisa homogen atau menyatu? “Memang secara fisik tak senyawa, tapi secara kimiawi bisa senyawa,”jelas Voll Yohanis Bosco yang ditemui di Gelar Teknologi Tepat Guna di Manado Convention Center.

Bensin rumus kimianya C8H12 dan air (H2O) dicampur dengan perbandingan 1:4. Hitungannya 1 liter bensin bisa dicampur 4 liter air. Artinya 80% air dan 20% bensin.

STEP2 DITUANG KETANGKI

Seperti nggak percaya kalau dari omongan doang. Pria beken dipanggil Boy itu langsung praktik sendiri. Menuang campuran bensin dan air ke dalam tangki bensin asli Smash. Namun telah dimodif dengan tutup model ulir biar lebih rapat. Cuuur… baru deh dituang dan ditutup rapat.

Menurut pegawai negeri sipil (PNS) yang bekerja di Radio Republik Indonesia RRI, Palu, Sulawesi Tengah ini, harusnya benar-benar sempurna dan tidak berkarat. Tangki motor harus terbuat dari fiber atau stainless steel.

STEP3 DIHIDUPKAN

Begitu mesin distarter, udara murni ( tanpa uap bensin ) dari karburator masuk menuju ruang bakar. Sebelum fungsi karbu sebagai pengabut bensin dinon-aktifkan. Maksudnya yang dipakai hanya skepnya saja untuk mengatur debit udara.

Berbarengan dengan udara masuk ruang bakar, campuran bensin dan air dari tangki dialirkan lewat pipa kecil menuju reaktor. Volume campuran bensin-air diatur dengan keran “Hanya dibuka sedikit, ” jelas Boy.

Reaktor seperti tabung berbentuk pipa, tapi lebih besar dari slang bahan bakar. ” Nah, di reaktor ini dihasilkan uap bensin yang dialirkan menuju ruang bakar lewat intake manifold (leher angsa), ” sebut Pak Boy.

Akhirnya uap bensin dan udara bertemu diruang bakar dan dikompresi piston. Selanjutnya dipantik api busi dan terjadilah pembakaran. Mesinpun hidup lewat siklus 1 ini.

STEP4 POLUTAN JADI BAHAN BAKAR DAUR ULANG

Setelah mesin hidup menghasilkan gas buang hasil pembakaran yang berupa polutan CO (karbon monoksida) dan CO2 (karbon dioksida). Lalu dari lubang buang dialirkan menuju reaktor. Polutan itu bereaksi dengan air (H2O) di dalam reaktor dan menghasilkan gas CH4 atau metane.

Metane mempunyai sifat uap bensin. Untuk daur ulang dialirkan menuju ruang bakar lewat intake manifold. Campur dengan udara diruang bakar. Dikompresikan dan dipantik api busi. Akhirnya terjadi pembakaran dari siklus 2.

Energi untuk menjalankan reaktor diambil dari panas gas buang yang mengakibatkan pembakaran menjadi efisien. Apalagi bila tabung reaktor sudah mencapai suhu 150-200 derajat celcius, baru deh mesin bisa hidup normal dan sanggup bergasing tinggi.

“ Memang pada awal starter masih mbrebet. Maklum metane di dalam tabung reaktor masih dalam proses pembuatan, “ jelas pria yang masih banyak merahasiakan isi reaktornya ini.

Jadi, reaktor punya dua fungsi. Selain menghasilkan uap bensin untuk pembakaran, juga mengubah polutan jadi metane.

STEP5
GAS BUANG RAMAH LINGKUNGAN

Kala mesin dingin, knalpot dari tabung reaktor keluar bintik-bintik air dibarengi mesin yang masih mbrebet. Ketika mesin sudah panas yang keluar dari knalpot hanya oksigen atau O2.

“ Sangat ramah lingkungan. Hanya air (H2O) dan oksigen (O2), “ aku pria yang tahun depan akan meriset kembali sepeda motor 100% berbahan bakar air. (BBA). Artinya bukan lagi campuran bahan bakar minyak (BBM) premium dan air.
